about

Beaches on the Thames is Sarah's debut DIY solo single. It was written, recorded & produced by Sarah (with co-production from Ancona) during the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown in London. The indie-alternative, spoken word & bedroom-beats track was inspired by news articles around the clearing of the water In the Venice canals. Blending the personal with political; the track juxtaposes slowing down to appreciate our relationships & the environment. "Toxins in the lungs, clearing the stream" - lyrics reference how It's taken a global virus to potentially "trigger the largest ever annual fall in CO2 emissions".

lyrics

We’re dancing in the park so quiet do you feel the feel the guilt of the nation
realise it’s time to go home we head to the station
Behind closed doors we keep away from the darkest hour daily update
That says
We don’t know what we’re doing
Just pursuing
Our new normal
You and me
grasped by the town by the greed
Hate we push aside
Staring out the window
finding healing in the light
That golden hour sunshine
as the fights in shops begin to breed the struggle
We leave it with the people

Chaos through the window
Don’t play with the latch as if it’s evil
Don’t breathe in the chaos it’s the devil not the sequel
Noise settles
roaming down bare streets like I’m an angel
defining piece inside our fable
inside our homes we’re free to roam
Convert the house create a temple

Beaches on the Thames
Glowing in the street light
Never could pretend
I could do the fast life
Clearing of the water
Maybe we can see
If you slow down with me

Stuck home
Drag my arms around behind you let my breath pass through your back
Back to us just isolation of two minds yours and mine
Hanging out a lot
Not always at work not normal seeing you always was something else on my mind now it’s just you and the tide
Now it's just you and the tide

Beaches on the Thames
Glowing in the street light
Never could pretend
I could do the fast life
Clearing of the water
Maybe we can see
If you slow down with me

We look there
Take in the calm of the water
There's toxins in the lungs clearing the stream
And you beam
And you beam

Beaches on the Thames
Glowing in the street light
Never could pretend
I could do the fast life
Clearing of the water
Maybe we can see
If you slow down with me

Beaches on the Thames
Glowing in the street light
Never could pretend
I could do the fast life
Clearing of the water
Maybe we can see
If you slow down with me

Beaches on the Thames
Glowing in the street light
Never could pretend
I could do the fast life
Clearing of the water
Maybe we can see
If you slow down with me
